Cpl. David Moss 20th Annual Memorial Service

by Trav ~ July 25th, 2008

The 20th Annual David Moss Memorial Service will be held July 30th at the Williston Police Department. Please come and share this service with those who will be honoring the sacrifice Cpl. Moss made for the community of Williston. Service starts at 9:00 A.M. in the vicinity of the flag pole and plaque in front of the Police Department.

Corporal Moss was killed in the line of duty on July 30th 1988 while investigating a disabled vehicle. From what little is known about the encounter, Corporal Moss appeared to have been ambushed after a short foot chase. His assailant fired one round, fatally wounding him in the chest. Corporal Moss returned fire, killing his assailant.

Williston ‘Third’ of July

by Trav ~ July 10th, 2008

As happens every third of July, Williston showed its “Hometown Pride” and put on one of the biggest and best fireworks display in the area. The city was deluged with visitors from all over hoping to share in the “Smalltown” celebration and we think it’s safe to say that very few left disappointed.

For the most part, it was a safe and fun loving crowd who came in the spirit of the holiday to enjoy the comraderie and celebration.

As always, the festivities got kicked of by a parade (see pictures below) and with it being an election year, it lasted over an hour. If you missed it, plan on attending next year. It’s always a little bit of “Smalltown” at its best!

See you on the next “Third” of July!
